My lab encompasses several areas of research including biochemistry, molecular biology and protein folding with a particular focus on the application of NMR spectroscopy, Mass Spectrometry and other biophysical techniques. One area of interest is the regulation of protein function through post-translational modifications (PTMs) such as ubiquitin, Ubls, and target protein modification. The lab aims to uncover the molecular mechanisms of PTMs and how they impact protein structure, stability, and interactions. The lab also investigates PROTAC (Proteolysis Targeting Chimera) as a potential therapeutic strategy to selectively degrade target proteins implicated in various diseases. This work involves the design, and characterization of PROTAC molecules as well as the investigation of their mechanism of action at the molecular level. Through these studies, the lab aims to gain insights into the underlying molecular mechanisms of cellular processes and identify potential targets for therapeutic intervention.
Our lab is also interested in exploring the conformational properties of peptides and their potential as drug targets. Peptides are versatile molecules that play essential roles in many biological processes, and their conformational flexibility allows them to interact with a wide range of targets. We use a combination of experimental and computational techniques to study the conformational properties of peptides, including NMR spectroscopy, and molecular dynamics simulations. By understanding the conformational properties of peptides, we aim to identify potential drug targets and design small molecule drugs that can modulate their activity. Ultimately, our research aims to contribute to the development of new therapeutics for a wide range of diseases.
